The El Segundo Police Department has successfully completed a clean-up operation of an encampment located west of the 700-block of Imperial Avenue near the dunes. The operation, which took place on March 21st, came after community members reported concerns about the area.

City officials brought in professional help for the job, contracting a hazmat crew to safely clear the site. In a positive development, Harbor Interfaith, the local homeless outreach provider, was able to transport one of the encampment's occupants to a shelter, connecting them with needed services.

Authorities have also addressed security concerns by repairing holes in the fence surrounding the area to prevent future unauthorized access.

Residents who spot encampments or individuals experiencing homelessness in El Segundo are encouraged to report the location and description through El Segundo Connect. These reports will be directed to the Proactive Approach to Combating Homelessness in El Segundo (PATCHES) team, which works to address homelessness issues in the community.

The police department expressed gratitude to community members for both reporting the situation and their patience during the clean-up process.
